WYSC 2025 Qualification Criteria

The WYSC 2025 is expected to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in Aug 2025. Exact dates TBA.. Please refer to www.youthscrabble.org for more details about the event.

Qualifying Period

The qualifying period ("QP") is from 15 December 2024 to 30 June 2025

The start of the QP is brought forward to 15 December to include the 2 yearend tourneys of 2024.

Eligibility

A player is eligible to represent Singapore at the WYSC 2025 if he/she:

is an SA member, and a Singapore citizen or permanent resident, from the end of the QP to the end of WYSC 2025;
was born on 1 January 2008 or later;
has played a minimum of 18 SA-rated games during the QP; and
has registered to SA during the QP their intention to represent Singapore at WYSC 2025 via youthtoucanet.com.

Treatment of Byes

Byes will not be used in the calculation of ratings.

Byes awarded to a player during the QP will count towards the 18-game minimum requirements; byes conceded by a player will not count towards this.

Byes awarded prior to the QP will not count towards the 18-game minimum requirement.

Selection Criteria

Singapore is expected to receive 10 spots for WYSC 2025 which will be allocated as follows:

8 spots to the top-rated eligible qualifiers at the end of the QP; and
2 spots to the top-rated eligible qualifiers below the age of 13 (as of 1 January 2025).

In the event that a qualifier meets both selection criteria (i) and (ii), he/she will qualify under selection criterion (i).

Any remaining spot(s) not allocated under selection criterion (ii) will be awarded to the next top-rated eligible qualifier(s) who has/have not already qualified under selection criterion (i).

The WYSC entry fee will be waived for the eligible qualifiers.

For those who do not qualify for the 10 spots, they are still eligible to attend the WYSC by paying the entry fee of USD100.
